ABOUT INSIGHT ECOLOGY
Although Northern Insight Ecology is a recently established company, the organisation possesses a wealth of experience and depth of knowledge through Graeme Hull, Insight’s Principal Consultant.
Graeme is educated to degree level with a B.A. (Hons.) First Class in Environmental Studies, he is also a Chartered Environmentalist (Society for the Environment) and a full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.
He is an experienced Ecologist and Environmental Manager, with over 20 years working for professional consultancies and within the civil engineering industry. He has managed environmental, as well as ecological works, on several major transport infrastructure schemes, involving the design and implementation of environmental management systems to ISO 14001 standard.
Additionally, Graeme has also designed and implemented a range of ecological investigations for a wide variety of projects including road and rail infrastructure schemes, housing, leisure, pipeline and wind farm projects etc.
Graeme is also an experienced mammal ecologist and a Scottish Natural Heritage licensed bat surveyor, undertaken surveys and monitoring throughout Scotland and Northern Ireland. In addition to mammal surveys, he possesses extensive experience undertaking breeding bird surveys and monitoring, including Red-throated diver surveys both in Caithness and the Isle of Skye.
In summary, Graeme has worked both as a Senior Ecological Consultant, and as a Project Environmental Manager for an International Civil Engineering company. In-addition to the above responsibilities, he has considerable experience in liaising with client’s environmental representatives, local authorities, the public and both statutory / non-statutory conservation organisations in relation to ecological and environmental management issues, protected species licences and required mitigation etc.
